At IMC 2018, Reliance Jio in terms of 5G connectivity demonstrated how it's introduction will increase broadband data for its users. Its goal is to revolutionize Indian smart home ecosystems.
Let's find out how they are going to achieve this.
Jio Giga-Fiber Router for Smart TV Experience
Once the users get themselves registered for a Giga-Fiber connection, they will get a broadband cable supplied to their house which needs to be plugged into the provided Giga-Fiber router. The router comes with multiple LAN ports and also along with a port that lets you connect it to your phone. This router allows up to 18-20 devices to be connected to it over Wi-Fi at a time.
This router will also be connected to the internet-enabled set-top-box that Jio is offering. It essentially converts standard TV into a smart TV the same way something like a Amazon Fire Stick or Google Chromecast would do. Furthermore, one will be able to give this set-top-box voice commands via the remote too.
Jio Giga-Fiber with building a Smart Home Ecosystem
In the Indian Mobile Conference, Jio demonstrated live an incoming video call on the smartphone to the TV screen which also works for the landline voice call. It is trying to get sensors work and installed on everything in a home from switches to lights and program a routine operation for the same.
It demonstrated a portable switch in the conference where a particular lights could be controlled without the switch to be fixed on the wall. It is going to launch an app for the same in the upcoming year for its users to make it work over the broadband network and one is good to go.
Even the project of the same can be seen being operated near Bidholi, Dehradun where Jio is on its current phase to set up Giga-Fibre. It's a massive step for being getting revoultionized as a good network country enjoying data with higher quality with less costs.
